Bunker

Description

In the woods there lies a bunker. And in that bunker a man and woman are playing a dark and dangerous game of cat-and-mouse...

Monika has been kidnapped. But she is not the innocent victim that she might at first appear. She has noticed that her kidnapper bears a more than passing resemblance to Hans, the boy she framed many years ago for the murder of her own brother. Her abductor, meanwhile, is vicious and violent. But his motives are unclear. Is he seeking revenge? Or is he merely toying with his victim for his personal enjoyment?

The story of Bunker unfolds in Andrea Maria Schenkel's trademark dislocated narrative. From the outset we know that a man has been trapped in the bunker, and that an unnamed victim is being treated in hospital for horrific injuries. The mystery is how this point has been reached, and what appalling hells of the human psyche must be passed through to get there.
